What is a consultant
In the career entitled Internet Business Consultant, there are three keywords that tell all. The Internet or world wide web is the world wide arena, the market place for every product or service that can be found in the real world. Business - that field of endeavor where one extends the products or services that he has a talent for. These products are of such quality that those in need of the service will gladly pay for.
Consultant - a helper, a mediator, a counselor, one who assists another to find his own answers.
Customer Service
Customer service can be a learned skill. Each and every person alive knows how he wants to be treated. A consultant will point out what is good and be separated enough from the business to see and document problem areas. No business will survive long without good customer service. That may mean just hiring the right people in the first place.
Problem Solving
I love the expression, "too close to the forest to see the trees." Every business person knows inherently what the problems area, but he or she is often too close to the situation to see the solution. He knows what has to be done, a consultant will help him to design the right solution. A consultant loves problem solving.
People Skills
A good consultant will also have excellent people skills. He will be able to conduct an interview and at the same time empower those that will eventually have to execute the plans into actions to accomplish the changes that must be made.
Has The Ability To Compose Action Plans That Can Be Followed
Action plans have to be easily understood. They have to have the acceptance of those that will have to do the actions. "Someone convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still." I don't know who first said that, but it is so true. A consultant if he is worth his salt will know this and more important know how to use it to get his plans completed.
A Desire To Create Change
A consultant is someone who has a proven track record in any given job. Many consultants come out of an industry where they did very well, then decide to strike out on their own. One man can only do so much in an hour, but when one man can teach many to do a job or task, how much more can be accomplished?
